Mickey card

Although this was the first thing i made im coming to the tutorial for this last

i saw a lot of mickey mouse invitations shaped like the head so i decided to go in another direction.

i just kept the basic mickey colors in my mind and went ahead.

As im living away from home i didn't have access to a printer. went t a printing shop near y house and got a black and white  print out of the wording after which i took photocopies.

Write your invitation on white paper

Paste on yellow board

Cut

Using crafts scissors with decorative cutting will make it look cooler

Then make envelopes

Take red paper; make an envelope which covers half

Cut two ovals from white paper

Paste this

Cut a black mickey face and paste this on one side

Your card is done

SEWING PANTS

Stitching pants

This tutorial is long overdue . but my son jus had his birthday and i was busy with that as i had a DIY party.

This is the instructions to stitch these pyjama pants

This is the way my mother used to stitch most of her clothes before she had a machine which could zigzag or a serger

When u stitch like this the edges which can fray are closed inside and the life of the garment especially children’s is increased

Here is what u do

First stich is always done on the right side with a small seam allowance

Second is done normally on the wrong side

First u stitch the top of the pants on both sides

Then u open this so it looks like pants

Then u stitch from the crotch to the leg hole

Repeat on the other side

Now use free arm sewing and hem the leg holes

Now at the top fold twice enough for elastic width, stitch all around but leave a gap for the elastic to go in

Insert the elastic and stitch two ends together

Now ur pants r done 

Have urn kid model it for u

We got ears

Draw a Mickey Mouse face cut lower half and use as template

Cut from black cardboard

Staple some black elastic at the back to both sides

From the front color the staples with black marker so they don’t stand out

And it’s done I made for all the guests

Giveaway mickey cushions

As most of the guests were my friend’s typical children’s giveaways

I decided to make cushions small ones which can be used as travelling pillows

For each u need

Two 10 inch by 8 inch black pieces

One 6 by 8 inch red piece

Yellow n white fabric paint

Attach the red piece to one of the black piece folded twice at front

Now use a brush to write the name n age or whatever u like u could print out and make a stencil too but I love working with my hands

I did use a stencil for buttons I just drew two ovals on a hard paper cut and used them to sponge the buttons

When it’s all dry preferably overnight then stitch the two black pieces together with the red inside

Doesn’t stitch the top, cut the lower corners

Turn right side out

U can iron the open end inside

Then fill with fiber old clothes cut in pieces or bean bag filling

Now stitch the top

The giveaway were a huge success

Cupcake stand

The cupcake stand was made with 3 pieces of card board of decreasing size

It would be better to use full cans if using empty ones weigh it down with some coins o something

Now place the largest board covered with foil then put the glue on the base of tin place it in middle

Put glue on the edges of the tin and place the middle sized board centered on it repeat with soup can with the smallest board on top the stand should dry overnight at least

I filled it 3 types of cupcake

Chocolate, vanilla and Oreo truffle with buttercream

The Oreo truffle was the biggest hit

Cakes

I made 3 cakes 2 with buttercream frosting and one with margarine cream as my son is on gluten n diary free diet

One chocolate cake

One vanilla

One strawberry soy cake with margarine and soy milk cream

Mickey Mouse party

So for decorations I took myself to pinterest

Now mickey mouse being one of the oldest and most famous characters in the world I didn’t have any shortage of Mickey Mouse inspiration

Decorations

These are some on the things I made

For vertical hanging

I made Mickey Mouse face cut outs using the cookie cutter

I increased the size a big

I used red black n yellow

Here is a pic of the wall

I did two huge mickey faces on the wall

Then I had happy birthday noon written on in it

 Horizontal Flags

I also made flags flour colors actually red yellow black n white

After I spent about half hour trying to stitch these on ribbon I realized that I could wind string on a bobbin n after that it was very smooth

I stitched along the end on the flag n when done pulled it away as long as I want distance between flags to b n did next one

Centerpiece and doorway hangings

I also got some tissue paper and made a center piece too

I searched for black and red tissues but I got red n yellow instead I made flowers on pipe cleaners and then put some pipe cleaners for decoration as well

The flowers were put in an empty formula tin of 400g with covered with colored paper and mickey cut outs pasted on it

There were excess flowers which I hung on ribbons and put over the doors and such
