the new born onesie

im due this October last week and its my first and its gonna be a little man. living in sunny sunny Maldives where its warm through out the year i found that most of the light weight baby cotton clothes that i find are a little bit girly and not suitable for boys so here i decided to make my babys wardrobe myself.
of course i did get some ready made stuff but i mostly plan on using the stuff i make
so the first thing i decided to make was a onesie
although i do have a bunch of oneies i didn't feel the material was very appropriate for the weather in maldives

i found this great tutorial at omicreates all the credit goes to her http://omi-creates.blogspot.com/2010/02/baby-boy-onesie-with-binding-tutorial.html

i did follow her tutorial but did also make a modification in that i did the the binding on the sleeves before i stitched the sides together
i find this more easy for me
also since her tutorial was for a six month old i shrunk it a bit until it was abt the same size as one of the new born onsies that i had gotten

first i made one with one of my husbands old tshirts. i always use something like an old tshirt when i start a project i havnt attempted before. but this i feel is very cute so my kid is probably gonna wear this. since this was my first time using snap pliers i had some difficulty with them had to remove one and start over so the snaps do look a lil crooked

i also used only 2 snaps in this one as the size is a bit smaller than the one in the tutorial

i made the next two with some very light weight soft stretchable material. this material is very much thinner than the tshirt material
and the last one i made from a stretchable fabric i found at one of the fabric shops here it is about the same thickness as the t shirt material i used previously
anyways it was so cute i ended up buying two yards of the stuff so my baby is probably gonna wear different items made from this stuff
btw im really sorry about the photo quality.
